Job description
The Warehouse Projects & Inventory Specialist supports warehouse improvement initiatives, inventory organization, material flow, storage optimization, labeling, staging, and general warehouse operations. This role assists with inventory control activities while also helping execute warehouse projects that improve safety, organization, accuracy, efficiency, and overall material movement throughout the facility., * Support warehouse improvement projects related to layout, storage, racking installation, labeling, material flow, staging areas, and overall organization.
- Assist with planning and executing warehouse cleanup, reorganization, relocation, and consolidation projects.
- Help maintain organized warehouse, production, staging, finished goods, raw material, and outside storage areas.
- Support inventory accuracy through location audits, cycle count assistance, physical inventory support, and material verification.
- Assist with identifying, labeling, organizing, and relocating raw material, WIP, finished goods, purchased components, drops, remnants, and obsolete inventory.
- Help verify inventory identification, including part number, quantity, unit of measure, job number, work order, location, and material description where applicable.
- Assist with resolving inventory location issues, missing labels, unidentified material, mixed inventory, and general warehouse discrepancies.
- Support the Inventory Control Specialist with inventory research, count preparation, reconciliation support, and documentation as needed.
- Assist with kitting and staging materials for production work orders, outside processing, internal projects, and customer shipments.
- Support receiving activities when needed, including material verification, labeling, paperwork review, put-away support, and location updates.
- Assist material handlers with locating, organizing, staging, moving, and verifying materials as needed.
- Support shipping and finished goods areas with organization, staging, labeling, and shipment preparation when workload requires it.
- Assist with tracking materials sent to and returned from subcontractors or outside processing vendors.
- Help identify damaged, rejected, obsolete, nonconforming, or questionable materials and support proper segregation or disposition.
- Support implementation of warehouse standards, including rack labels, bin labels, floor markings, staging zones, storage rules, and material identification procedures.
- Help document warehouse processes, project progress, before-and-after conditions, inventory cleanup activity, and improvement opportunities.
- Identify process gaps, material flow issues, safety concerns, storage problems, and opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency.
- Maintain flexibility to support other warehouse functions while following inventory accuracy, traceability, safety, and material control standards.
- Work with warehouse leadership, inventory control, production, purchasing, and material handlers to support daily priorities and project completion.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred
- 2+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or materials management in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working within ERP/MRP systems
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and basic data analysis
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues systematically
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fabrication, modular manufacturing, or industrial production environments
- Familiarity with cycle counting methodologies and inventory audit procedures
- Understanding of BOM structures and work order transactions
- Exposure to Lean or continuous improvement principles
- Forklift Experience
