Job description
The IT and Simulator Systems Specialist provides day-to-day IT support and administration while serving as a front-line technical resource for flight simulators and simulation-based training systems. The position supports employees, customers, endpoints, Microsoft 365 services, networks, simulator software, controls, displays, peripherals, and related hardware.
This role is well suited to a hands-on technical problem-solver who can move comfortably between enterprise IT support and simulator sustainment, document solutions clearly, and partner with engineering teams to keep business and training systems secure, reliable, and operational.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

IT Support and Administration
· Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to employees and resolve requests through the organization’s ticketing system.
· Troubleshoot Windows computers, laptops, printers, peripherals, business applications, Wi-Fi, VPN, and general connectivity issues.
· Support user onboarding and offboarding, account changes, access management, and equipment deployment.
· Administer or support Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
· Manage user accounts, groups, licenses, and access in Microsoft Entra ID; assist with Microsoft Intune and endpoint-management activities.
· Support endpoint patching, software deployment, system upgrades, and other technology projects.
Simulator Operations and Sustainment
· Serve as a primary technical support resource for flight simulators, XR systems, and other simulation-based training devices.
· Troubleshoot simulator software, system performance, displays, visual systems, controls, input/output devices, cabling, peripherals, and PC-based hardware.
· Perform system setup, configuration, testing, preventive maintenance, pre-flight checks, post-flight checks, and sustainment activities.
· Perform visual alignments and evaluate Qualification Test Guide (QTG) and other test-procedure results.
· Create or modify wiring, mechanical assemblies, and physical simulator structures in accordance with approved technical procedures.
· Assist with simulator installation, upgrades, refurbishments, hardware modifications, and maintenance, both on-site and remotely.
Shared Systems and Service Responsibilities
· Diagnose issues across hardware, software, networking, and connected systems, escalating complex problems to engineering or other specialists when required.
· Provide clear technical guidance to employees, instructors, customers, and other end users.
· Maintain accurate IT asset records, simulator configuration records, maintenance history, support logs, and technical documentation.
· Document issues, resolutions, and recurring problems to improve reliability, security, and support processes.
· Coordinate equipment warranty repairs, component replacement, and lifecycle activities.
· Follow company security, safety, configuration-control, and customer-site requirements., * Follow documented procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Support quality objectives and continual improvement initiatives.
- Participate in corrective action and process improvement activities when assigned.
Work Environment:This job operates from an office environment.
Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 0900 - 1600. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel:Some flexibility in hours is permitted, but the employee must be available during core hours of 0900-1600 Eastern. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as duties demand. Travel is expected approximately 5-10 times per year and may include customer or government locations.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
Requirements
· Associate degree or two-year technical degree in information technology, computer science, electronics, simulation technology, cybersecurity, or a related field; equivalent professional experience, technical training, or certifications may be considered.
· At least 4 years of combined experience in IT support, systems administration, simulator support, or maintenance of complex technical systems, including meaningful hands-on simulator or training-device experience.
· Strong experience supporting Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments and troubleshooting PC hardware, software, peripherals, and network connectivity.
· Experience administering or supporting Microsoft 365, with working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, and endpoint management.
· Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, VPN, and common network troubleshooting methods.
· Ability to troubleshoot simulator systems at the system level and use available diagnostic information and test equipment.
· Ability to perform preventive maintenance, pre-flight and post-flight checks, and visual-system adjustments after appropriate platform-specific training.
· Ability to read and follow technical procedures, diagrams, and configuration documentation.
· Strong communication, customer-service, documentation, and prioritization skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple requests.
· U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal government security clearance when required.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
· Five or more years of simulator support, IT administration, or closely related technical experience.
· Experience with mixed reality, virtual reality, augmented reality, or other XR training technologies.
· Experience with Microsoft Intune, Azure services, endpoint security, or advanced Microsoft 365 administration.
· Skill with soldering and repair of cables, connectors, and electronic components.
· Experience operating 3D printers, CNC machines, or similar fabrication equipment.
· An active government security clearance.
Security Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance if required by contract.
- Must comply with company security, cybersecurity, and information protection policies.
