We are seeking an experienced, highly organised, and analytical School Data Manager to join a busy and forward-thinking secondary school in Westminster. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced data professional who is passionate about using accurate information to support student achievement, school improvement, and strategic decision-making.

The successful candidate will become an integral member of the school’s support team, working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, and administrative colleagues.
As the School Data Manager, you will take responsibility for the management, integrity, and reporting of the school’s data systems, ensuring that student, attendance, assessment, and examination information is accurate, secure, and readily available to support school improvement., * Manage and maintain the school’s Management Information System (MIS) and student database.
- Ensure student, attendance, assessment, and examination data is accurate, up to date, and fully compliant.
- Produce regular reports for senior leaders, governors, and teaching staff.
- Analyse student progress, attainment, attendance, and behaviour data to support strategic decision-making.
- Support senior leaders with target setting, performance monitoring, and school improvement planning.
- Complete statutory returns, including the School Census.
- Import, export, validate, and maintain assessment and examination data.
- Create reports, spreadsheets, and dashboards using advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Manage user access, data security, and GDPR compliance across all data systems.
- Provide training and technical support to staff using the school’s MIS.
- Liaise with examination boards, the local authority, and other external agencies.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the school’s data management processes.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and school policies are followed at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a School Data Manager, Data Officer, or similar education-based role - essential.
- Experience managing assessment, examination, or attendance data within a secondary school - essential.
- Strong knowledge of school Management Information Systems, including SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom, or equivalent.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
- Experience completing the School Census and other statutory returns.
- The ability to interpret complex data and present information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A thorough understanding of GDPR, confidentiality, and data protection legislation.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to strict deadlines.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred Criteria
- Experience producing performance dashboards and management reports.
- Experience supporting senior leadership teams with school improvement planning.
- Knowledge of examination administration and assessment systems.
- Experience training colleagues on MIS systems and data processes.
- A proactive approach to improving data accuracy, reporting, and school systems.
