Job description

  • Managing and maintaining the school’s Management Information System (MIS)
  • Producing attendance, behaviour, assessment and attainment reports for senior leaders
  • Supporting assessment data collection and whole-school reporting cycles
  • Ensuring pupil records are accurate, up to date and compliant with statutory requirements
  • Assisting with the school census and other mandatory data returns
  • Supporting staff with the effective use of MIS and reporting tools
  • Maintaining data accuracy and confidentiality in line with GDPR
  • Identifying opportunities to improve administrative processes and reporting efficiency

Requirements

A forward-thinking secondary school in Birmingham is looking to appoint a skilled Data & MIS Officer to join its support staff team on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026.

Data plays a central role in driving school improvement, and this is an excellent opportunity for an organised and analytical professional to contribute to a school that is committed to achieving the very best outcomes for its students. Working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff and the wider administration team, the successful candidate will ensure the school’s data systems remain accurate, efficient and compliant.

This role would suit someone with previous experience working in a school data environment or an experienced administrator looking to specialise in management information systems., The school is seeking a highly organised individual with excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Previous experience using school MIS platforms such as Arbor, SIMS, Bromcom or Arbor MIS would be highly advantageous. Candidates should be confident working with large datasets, Microsoft Excel and reporting tools, while demonstrating the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet important deadlines., Experience within a school or educational setting is preferred, although applications from candidates with strong data management experience in other sectors will also be considered.
