Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in hydraulics to support the maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of mechanical and hydraulic systems within a busy rubber mixing manufacturing facility.

The successful candidate will be involved and accountable for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of critical production equipment, including Banbury mixers, mixing mills, hydraulic presses, material handling systems, and associated plant utilities.

You must be a hands-on engineer with excellent troubleshooting skills and a proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex hydraulic and mechanical failures.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical & Hydraulic Maintenance

Provide technical support for all mechanical and hydraulic systems within the rubber mixing facility.

Diagnose and rectify mechanical and hydraulic faults to minimise production downtime.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot:
  • Banbury/Internal Mixers
  • Open Mixing Mills
  • Hydraulic Presses and Rams
  • Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs)
  • Hydraulic Cylinders, Pumps, Valves and Accumulators
  • Extrusion and Material Handling Equipment
  • Cooling and Utility Systems

Requirements

Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.

Strong knowledge of:

  • Hydraulic systems and components
  • Hydraulic power units
  • Hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders and valves
  • Mechanical power transmission systems
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Bearings, conveyors, gearboxes and rotating equipment

Experience with fault finding and repair of complex hydraulic systems.

Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance practices.

Proficient in CMMS systems and Microsoft Office.

Desirable Skills

Experience within rubber, polymer, tyre, chemical or process manufacturing industries.

Knowledge of Banbury mixers and rubber mixing equipment.

Hydraulic certification or specialist hydraulic training.

Experience reading hydraulic schematics and engineering drawings.

Lean Manufacturing, TPM or Six Sigma experience.

Project management experience.
