Job description

A rapidly growing retail business is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead and develop its engineering team. This is a hands-on leadership role combining people management, technical direction, and delivery ownership within a fast-paced e-commerce environment. The Role You’ll lead a team of full-stack and backend engineers responsible for delivering and maintaining e-commerce platforms, integrations, and data systems. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you’ll drive technical strategy, oversee project delivery, and promote engineering best practices across the business., * Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers.

  • Own the engineering roadmap and delivery of key projects.
  • Drive Agile processes and manage development priorities.
  • Provide technical leadership across APIs, integrations, and backend services.
  • Oversee integrations with ERP, fulfilment, and third-party platforms.
  • Champion best practices around code quality, testing, and CI/CD.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in software engineering.
  • 2+ years’ experience leading or managing engineering teams.
  • Strong background with Node.js or similar backend technologies.
  • Experience building APIs (REST/GraphQL) and integrating third-party systems.
  • Knowledge of serverless architectures (AWS Lambda or equivalent).
  • Experience with databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or BigQuery.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery, Git, CI/CD, and modern development practices.
  • Previous experience within retail, e-commerce, or high-traffic digital environments is highly desirable.
