Job description

  1. Provide timely response on service calls for end-user support by monitoring workloads.
  2. Use appropriate tools, techniques, or processes to identify and solve hardware or software problems for customers.
  3. Trains users on software and equipment usage.
  4. Communicates standards for use, operations, and security of network, personal computers, and data.
  5. Configure and distribute new hardware and reconfigure/upgrade older equipment as necessary.
  6. Provide on-call and after hours support as needed.
  7. Maintain inventory control.
  8. Create and update documentation as required.
  9. Seek self-improvement through self-study to improve skills necessary to stay current with technology.
  10. Any other duties required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

As assigned., Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Regular district wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate lifting and carrying.

Requirements

Education/Certification:

H.S Diploma Comp TiIA A+ or greater (Server+, Network+, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, etc.) Certification required.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Decision-making skills required. Must have ability to work independently and in a team environment. Highly motivated and proactive individual required. Requires excellent interpersonal, planning, organizational, and communication (written and verbal) skills. One or more years’ previous experience or equivalent knowledge in a technical support position. Must have good understanding of x86 PC Architecture with the ability to diagnose and repair hardware problems. Must show proficiency with W9x and W2K desktop operating systems and network connectivity. Basic knowledge of TCPIP (Ping, FTP, Telnet, SMTP, and DNS) required. Must have advanced troubleshooting skills in DOS, W2K, and W9x environments. Requires ability to support the installation of various customer applications, including legacy, desktop office suite (MS Office 97), and messaging clients. Preferred skills include Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Macintosh.

Experience:

5 years experience working in Information Technology setting
