  • You will conduct individual and collaborative research projects in biophysical chemistry and …
  • plan, perform and analyze experiments using reconstituted actin systems and complementary biophysical and microscopy-based methods.
  • investigate how different actin-binding proteins influence the organization, dynamics, and mechanical properties of actin filaments and networks, particularly in confinement.
  • quantitatively analyze experimental data and contribute to the development and implementation of suitable data-analysis workflows.
  • You will continually update your knowledge and understanding of the field and translate advances in cytoskeletal biophysics, soft-matter physics, and quantitative microscopy into your research activities and write up research work for publication,
  • present information on research progress and outcomes to team members and collaboration partners,
  • contribute positively to a collegiate research environment by supporting students and engaging in group activities such as meetings and seminars,
  • contribute to the teaching of courses as defined in Section 31 of the Higher Education Act of Lower Saxony (NHG) and the administration of examinations.

Requirements

  • You hold (or are in the process of concluding) a Master’s degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
  • You have a strong interest in experimental biophysics and the quantitative investigation of biological systems.
  • You have an interest in cytoskeletal organization, protein-protein interactions, soft-matter systems and/or the mechanical properties of biomolecular networks.
  • You have practical experience in protein biochemistry, protein-protein interaction studies or biochemical binding assays.
  • You are able to work collaboratively and effectively within an interdisciplinary and diverse research team.
  • Previous experience with actin reconstitution, fluorescence microscopy, and rheological methods is highly advantageous
  • Experience with quantitative image analysis, data processing and programming, for example in Python or a comparable environment, is advantageous.
  • Previous teaching experience, particularly in physical chemistry, physics, chemistry or related subjects, is advantageous.
  • You are highly motivated to acquire new experimental and analytical skills and to work independently on a challenging interdisciplinary research project
  • You have an excellent command of written and spoken English.

Another requirement for employment is a commitment from the doctoral supervisors to supervise the successful applicant in the doctoral program within the framework of the GAUSS doctoral program.

Benefits & conditions

at the Biophysical Chemistry group (Group of Prof. Andreas Janshoff). The position is remunerated with 50 % E 13 TV-L (corresponding to 19.9 hours per week) with a limited contract of 3 years. The position should be filled by 15.10.2026 at the latest. Salary: Pay grade 13 TV-L (50 %).
