Job description
Develop and design mechanical systems/mechanisms with consideration to cost, functionality, manufacturability, and availability. Design parts and systems in a manner that reflects the forming and fabrication processes and capabilities of the manufacturing and assembly tooling. Create 2D drawings that are completed with enough data to ensure that the part can be manufactured, quoted, or gauged for functionality. Apply geometric dimension and tolerancing to components and systems Prepare and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Source off the shelf parts like actuators, bearings, fasteners, standard steel sections
Requirements
Experience in 3D modeling CAD tools such as Solidworks or Inventor Experience in creation of 2D drawings for part and assembly, 3D modeling Basic knowledge of GD&T and application Knowledge of assembly and part tolerance stack ups Able to build 3D models in a manner that allows later changes to be realized quickly and easily Other Skills/Experience Preferred: Hands on experience in building and fabrication of mechanical systems/machines
