Job description

The IAM Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, administration, maintenance, and improvement of the agencys identity and access management environment. This role supports certificate lifecycle (PKI) operations, enterprise IAM operations across Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, access provisioning, authentication services, group and role administration, policy enforcement, and security-related identity controls. This position also contributes to infrastructure modernization efforts, operational support, and project-based work tied to secure access, governance, and service continuity.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Administer AD CS and/or third-party CAs; process certificate issuance, renewal and revocation (CRL/OCSP)

  • Support HSM operations and key ceremonies under senior staff guidance

  • Maintain and assist CLM tooling for certificate tracking, automation and reporting

  • Troubleshoot certificate-related production issues and escalate complex trust chain or design problems to senior engineers

  • Follow established PKI standards and compliance guidelines (NIST, CIS) and support documentation updates

  • Perform both operational and engineering tasks, including resolving identity-related issues, implementing access and authentication changes, supporting system integrations

  • Provides support for governance and security initiatives and contributes to special projects and strategic efforts as assigned

  • Coordinate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure IAM services remain reliable, secure, and aligned with agency objectives

HOURS/SHIFT

Day - Due to the necessary technical duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.

Requirements

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or,

Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” above.
