Cloud Systems Engineer - Payments

You’ll take ownership of designing, building and supporting cloud infrastructure whilst working closely with software engineering and platform teams to improve scalability, security and operational excellence.

This role offers plenty of variety, covering infrastructure design, automation, cloud networking, security, reliability and continuous improvement across a modern multi-cloud estate., * Design, build and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure across GCP and AWS

• Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Create and maintain Ansible playbooks for automation and configuration management
• Build resilient, secure and highly available cloud environments
• Work closely with development teams to support application deployments
• Improve automation, monitoring and operational efficiency
• Optimise cloud performance and spend across multiple environments
• Support incident response, troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Implement networking, security and disaster recovery best practices

• Commercial experience as a Cloud Engineer, Systems Engineer, Platform Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Good commercial experience with AWS
• Terraform (essential)
• Ansible automation
• Linux administration
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Bash and/or Python scripting
• Cloud networking (VPCs, IAM, Load Balancers, routing)
• Infrastructure automation and CI/CD
• Strong understanding of cloud security and best practices

Highly desirable

Any experience with the following would be advantageous:

• GKE and/or Amazon EKS
• Prometheus, Grafana or CloudWatch
• GitOps (ArgoCD / Flux)
• Service Mesh technologies
• PCI DSS or regulated financial environments
• FinOps or cloud cost optimisation
• ELK Stack or centralised logging
• Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning
• Professional AWS or GCP certifications
