Job description

  • Provide onsite support for computer and technology problems, including diagnostics and repair under ADP contract for PCs, chromebooks and netbooks/laptops.
  • Dress and route cabling into telecommunications closets and individual work areas and outlets
  • Work in unusual or difficult positions: climbing ladders, scaffolding, and lifts, and working in crawl spaces, above ceilings, or underneath desks
  • Use basic hand tools and power tools; carry and move equipment and tools up to 50 lbs
  • Complete installations on time and within budget based on customer consultation and expectations
  • Use approved industry standards and techniques to ensure proper system function with installed equipment
  • Create documentation; analyze, modify, and test systems to confirm proper function
  • Maintain and deploy user-specific system images
  • Confirm installed systems and programs are tested and working properly
  • Help maintain the company vehicle and keep up with scheduled maintenance
  • Help maintain inventory for assigned projects
  • Assist with warehouse maintenance, shipments, deliveries, staging, loading, and unloading as needed
  • Keep a neat, clean work area and equipment
  • Coordinate with other departments at Central Technologies to solve client problems independently; report directly to the regional service department coordinator in the Knoxville branch
  • Design and deliver solutions required by clients
  • Prioritize job tasks and adapt to changing schedules and assignments
  • Document work plans and deployments clearly, including manuals for other employees and clients when needed
  • Keep accurate, punctual ticket records and track metrics
  • Be willing to work odd hours occasionally
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an IT tech desired
  • 2-year degree and A+ certification desired but not required; relevant work experience considered in lieu of formal certification
  • Computer repair and diagnostic knowledge
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Outgoing personality and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ticket maintenance history; experience with the ConnectWise suite desired but not required
  • Advanced-level software support experience (Windows, Mac OS, Avigilon, Linux, etc.) desired
  • Exceptional communication skills and professionalism in difficult situations
  • Ability to maintain strong client relationships
  • Goal-oriented and independent-minded, with the ability to meet requirements set by upper management
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

  • Low-voltage cable installation experience
  • Experience installing conduit and boxes, and pulling wire
  • Network experience

  • Superior phone skills; excellent verbal and written communication

Education

Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred
