Job description

Reporting to the Director, Cloud Integration & Azure Applications, the IT Specialist is responsible for administering, supporting, configuring, and ensuring the smooth operation of GEM Enterprise IT systems and services, including installing and updating hardware and software, troubleshooting technical issues, managing data security and providing technical support to users.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Deploy, manage and maintain on-premises Hyper-V/VMWare/Nutanix HA cluster and Windows Server infrastructure, including enterprise storage, database servers, AD objects, and mobile devices.
  • Administer, maintain, troubleshoot and enhance complex network infrastructure, including Palo Alto / Fortinet firewalls, Cisco switches, Ruckus wireless access points, internet connectivity, telephony systems, and radio communication infrastructure, including support for digital mobile radio (DMR) systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Provide support to Mine site end users, including user onboarding/offboarding and ensure that IT service requests and technical issues are addressed promptly and efficiently.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computers, workstations, and other end user hardware and peripherals.
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Infrastructure and Cyber Security team to ensure compliance with the Corporate IT policies, cybersecurity standards and best practices, while driving continuous improvement initiatives for GEM IT infrastructure.
  • Maintain backup systems to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems; provide support for all services relating to IT systems.
  • Create and update IT technical documentation including network diagrams, system configurations, asset inventory and knowledge articles.
  • Respond to alerts from various security monitoring dashboards for Antivirus, Malware, Firewall Management, Active Directory, Network Performance, SIEM, User Behavior Analysis, and Cloud Services.
  • Other related tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or Information technology related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years professional hands-on experience in similar role or a combination of education/certifications.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and team building skills is required.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Work effectively independently in a dynamic team environment.
  • Certification in relevant technologies, such as Cisco CCNA, Palo Alto, Fortinet FCP, Microsoft Server certifications is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in advanced network and server administration, enterprise virtualization, database management, data analytics and M365 services.
  • Proven experience in IT user support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and networks.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working in the mining industry or similar environment is a plus.

This project is an underexplored property in a prolific mining jurisdiction that provides substantial upside potential.

Goldfield is a conventional open-pit, heap leach project currently proceeding with development and construction after completing a technical study in August 2025. The project has an approximate mine life of 7-years and first production is expected by the end of 2028, adding to Centerra’s near-term gold production profile.
