Software as a Service Cloud Computing Embedded Software Hardware Design Operational Data Store Scrum Methodology Computer Equipment Operational Systems

Job description

As Flock scales its autonomous drone platform for public safety, expanding our aviation hardware capabilities requires navigating a complex environment where physical devices, embedded firmware, wireless connectivity, and cloud platforms intersect. Hardening and scaling an American-made autonomous flight platform amid evolving market and regulatory shifts demands a technical product leader who can align complex hardware constraints with software execution. You will own our aviation hardware product roadmap, partner directly with engineering and flight test teams, and deliver robust flight systems to public safety agencies nationwide., * Define and execute the product roadmap for Flock’s aviation hardware portfolio, balancing near-term customer priorities, technical constraints, and long-term hardware vision.

  • Partner directly with Engineering and Test Pilots to drive product development end-to-end across hardware subsystems, embedded software, connectivity, and cloud interfaces.
  • Translate customer feedback, flight operational data, and evolving FAA and FCC regulations into concrete hardware requirements and technical strategy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Test Pilots, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Customer Success, and Go-to-Market teams to deliver customer-focused hardware solutions.
  • Build technical fluency across the platform architecture to evaluate technical tradeoffs, guide engineering priorities, and represent product strategy to stakeholders., * This isn’t a software-only or pure cloud application role, you will manage physical hardware devices, embedded systems, wireless communications, and hardware-adjacent software.
  • This is not a legal or regulatory compliance position, you will collaborate with legal and compliance partners to interpret regulatory shifts and shape product requirements.
  • This isn’t a hands-off strategy function, you will dive into technical architecture tradeoffs, manage engineering backlogs, and run sprint planning cadences directly with engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Proven product management experience in complex technical environments where hardware, software, and operational systems intersect.
  • Demonstrated success partnering deeply with engineering teams on technical tradeoffs, scoping, execution, and roadmap planning.
  • Capability to learn domain-specific regulatory constraints and integrate them into product strategy and hardware development.
  • Strong customer instinct and market judgment, with the ability to connect user needs to product execution.
  • Familiarity with aviation, autonomous systems, robotics, drones, or similarly regulated hardware spaces is preferred but not required.

Benefits & conditions

In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $160,000 and $190,000 as well as Flock Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in depth with you during our first chat.

About the company

Every community deserves to be safe. Flock builds the technology that makes that real: last year we supported over 1 million criminal investigations and helped locate more than 10,000 missing people. We’re 1,700 people building the impossible with over $1B in funding, and the expectations are high on purpose. If you want a role where the stakes are real and the pace matches, this is it.

Some problems get solved faster in the same room, so we prioritize candidates in Atlanta and Boston. Hub-based roles mean real in-person time with your coworkers. Remote roles exist, and when a posting is open to remote work, it says so.

Building the impossible takes every kind of mind. Flock is an equal opportunity employer, and we know the best solutions come from diverse perspectives, experiences, and skills working together with mutual respect. Everyone is welcome to apply. If you need assistance or an accommodation due to a disability, email recruiting@flocksafety.com; your information stays confidential and is used only to arrange the right accommodation for your interviews.

On compensation: we pay fairly for the work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education, training, and market indicators. The range in this posting covers base salary only and doesn’t include equity, sales bonus plans where applicable, or benefits. The range may be adjusted over time, and this posting may span more than one career level.
