Job description

Support the network infrastructure for LAN/WAN services at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Coordinate work actions and collaborate with the CIT federal team and other service areas to ensure network reliability.

Respond quickly and thoroughly to incidents, requests, and outages to maintain maximum network uptime.

Configure and troubleshoot network gear including CISCO routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and UPS devices.

Create network and closet diagrams, decipher network topologies, and utilize network tools for diagnostics and traffic analysis.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience with professional certification such as CCNA or CCNP.

Minimum three (3) years of network administrator experience.

Strong understanding of network protocols and switching, TCP/IP, FTP/HTTP(S), UDP, STP, VPN, etc.

Experience troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches, NICs, LAN ports, and related network gear.

Ability to lift up to 50lbs to rack and stack network gear.

Reliable transportation to respond to on-call emergencies within the DC-MD-VA area.

Excellent documentation, organization, and teamwork skills, with a strong sense of responsibility and ownership.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative federal environment while ensuring security and compliance.
