Job description

The Software Engineer will design, develop, document, test, and maintain software applications and Microsoft SQL Server databases while applying industry best practices and secure development methodologies throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)., * Plan, coordinate, and execute Microsoft SQL Server database development activities.

  • Design, develop, document, and maintain database architectures for new and existing applications. Build secure, scalable, and maintainable software using modern programming languages and frameworks.

  • Apply software engineering standards, methodologies, and tools across the full SDLC.
  • Translate business and mission requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot software defects, database errors, and performance issues.
  • Resolve program errors and develop enhancements to improve functionality and user experience.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operating instructions, and development artifacts.
  • Assess system capabilities to address issues involving program intent, output needs, and data acquisition.
  • Optimize SQL queries, database schemas, and application performance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders to deliver mission-critical solutions.
  • Ensure software meets Department of Defense cybersecurity standards and secure coding requirements.

Requirements

  • Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Minimum Ten (10) years of experience working with security automation technologies.
  • Minimum Ten (10) years of experience in Software Engineering or related field.
  • Python Coding & Development Experience.
  • Gitlab Continuous Integration & Continuous Development Experience.
  • (Cl/CD) Implementation & Application Experience.
  • Ansible and Terraform Experience.
  • User Interface, Web, and API Development Experience.
  • Linux Administration Experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Software Engineering & Architecture: Object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, DRY/KISS methodologies, data structures, algorithms, system design.
  • API Development: RESTful APIs, GraphQL (preferred).
  • Modern Architectures: Microservices, distributed systems, load balancing, caching strategies, message queues, scalable application design.
  • Database Technologies: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis), schema design, query optimization, performance tuning.
  • Version Control: Git.
  • Secure Development: Secure coding practices, software assurance.
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform.
  • CI/CD Tools: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI.
  • Containerization: Docker; Kubernetes (preferred).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed computing principles.
  • Knowledge of high-availability and fault-tolerant system design.
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
  • Monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).
  • Familiarity with OWASP secure coding standards.
  • Identity & Access Management (OAuth, JWT).
  • Front-end development using React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Experience with Kafka or Amazon Kinesis.
  • Machine learning or data engineering experience.
  • Application profiling and advanced performance optimization.
  • Deep database performance tuning expertise.
  • Strong professional and communication skills.
