Job description
Insight Global is looking for a Vision Hardware Test Engineer to support Tesla’s Autonomy organization. This engineer will work on the camera systems used across all Tesla vehicle platforms, focusing on validating hardware durability, reliability, and functionality. The team is responsible for ensuring Tesla’s vision systems can withstand real-world environmental and mechanical stresses through rigorous testing and analysis. This is a highly hands-on, physics-driven engineering role that combines mechanical, electrical, and hardware design expertise.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Testing and validating camera hardware used in Tesla’s autonomy and vision systems
- Performing vibration, shock, durability, and environmental testing on hardware components
- Designing and developing test fixtures and hardware setups for validation activities
- Working cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams
- Supporting hardware troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and reliability investigations
- Using CAD electronics, PCB design to create test fixtures and prototypes
- Collecting, analyzing, and documenting test data to improve product reliability and performance
- Ensuring camera systems meet functionality and durability requirements before deployment
We can pay anywhere from $70/hr-$85/hr depending on years of experience.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Biomechanics, Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Engineering, or related field
- 1+ years of hands-on engineering experience with hardware products
- Experience working on physical hardware projects from concept through testing
- Strong understanding of both Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering fundamentals
- Experience with CAD design and PCB-related work
- Comfortable performing hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities
Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Python scripting or automation experience -Previous Test Engineering or Reliability Engineering experience
- Experience with vibration, shock, environmental, or durability testing
- Experience working with electromechanical systems, sensors, cameras, or embedded hardware
- Background in automotive, aerospace, aviation, biomechanics, or physics-focused engineering environments
