Job description

This is a full-time position, to start at the earliest convenience, based on a limited-term contract valid for a period of three years, with the option of renewal. Your responsibilities

  • Independent work on a research topic in cybersecurity with the goal of pursuing a PhD
  • Contribution to research projects in cybersecurity / digital security, in particular digital forensics, intrusion detection, attack analysis, monitoring (VMI, eBPF), and intrusion tolerance (BFT algorithms)
  • Contribution to publications, project proposals, and scientific exchange (conferences, workshops)
  • Plan, administer and deliver classes of a total of 5 hours per week
  • Maintenance and further development of research prototypes as well as research and teaching infrastructure
  • Support in supervising students (theses, projects)

Requirements

  • Relevant university Master’s degree in computer science, IT security, or a closely related field
  • Solid knowledge of cybersecurity (e.g. systems/network security, cryptography, secure software, digital forensics)
  • Ability to work independently on complex research topics
  • Interest in scientific work and willingness to pursue a PhD
  • Very good programming skills, preferably in systems-oriented languages (e.g. C/C++, Rust), and experience with Linux and development tools
  • Very good written and spoken English (at least C1); German is an advantage but not required; ability to conduct exercises and tutorials in English or German
