Job description

  • Supporting the testing and quality assurance of software applications across a range of projects
  • Working closely with developers, business analysts, and engineering teams to ensure high-quality software delivery
  • Creating, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts
  • Assisting with test planning, test execution, defect identification, and defect tracking
  • Supporting CI/CD pipelines by helping integrate automated testing into deployment processes
  • Identifying, documenting, and communicating software defects and areas for improvement
  • Applying testing best practices to improve software quality and reliability
  • Collaborating within agile teams to support successful project delivery

If you’ve completed a tech bootcamp or have less than a year’s experience in software testing, quality assurance, or test automation, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

As a _nology consultant, you’ll join a community of early-career technology professionals, receiving ongoing mentoring, training, and support from a dedicated onsite manager while gaining hands-on experience with leading organisations delivering critical public sector projects.

There will be a short training period remotely with _nology preparing you for the client project, providing you with the skills needed to be successful in your new tech career. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in Quality Engineering and Test Automation. You’ll work alongside experienced delivery teams, helping to ensure software is thoroughly tested, reliable, and fit for purpose, while continuing to develop your technical and professional skills.

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals with strong attention to detail, a passion for technology, and a desire to learn within a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

After successful completion of training and starting the client project the starting salary is £ 26,700 with payrises at 6-months and 12-months based on performance., We’re looking for early-career candidates who can demonstrate knowledge or exposure to:

  • Software testing principles and quality assurance practices
  • Test automation tools, particularly Selenium and Cucumber
  • Understanding of test scripting or programming using Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar technologies
  • Test case creation, execution, and defect management
  • Version control tools such as Git
  • CI/CD concepts and automated testing pipelines
  • Agile development environments and collaborative delivery practices
  • Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

You do not need deep commercial experience. We’re interested in candidates who have built foundational testing and automation knowledge through bootcamps, personal projects, internships, placements, or early professional experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Located in Newcastle or within a 1-hour commutable distance
  • Training is remote and successful candidates after training will be required to attend an office a minimum of 3 days per week
  • Eligible for UK Security Clearance, or able to meet clearance requirements
  • Strong communication, professional, and collaborative skills
  • Enthusiasm for learning and developing within a professional technology environment
  • Immediate availability for full-time training, * Coding bootcamp graduates with hands-on experience in software testing, quality assurance, or test automation, OR STEM graduates from disciplines such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or related fields who are eager to build a career in Quality Engineering.
  • Exposure to software testing or test automation through academic work, commercial experience, bootcamps, internships, placements, or personal projects.
  • Familiarity with test automation tools such as Selenium and Cucumber, or a willingness to develop expertise in these technologies.
  • An understanding of software testing concepts such as test planning, test execution, defect management, automation frameworks, and quality assurance best practices.
  • Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar technologies would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with version control tools such as Git and an understanding of CI/CD concepts would be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality software.
  • A proactive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and a genuine eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Eligible for UK Security Clearance, or able to meet security clearance requirements.
