Job description
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking ICT Technical Manager to lead the technical direction for an essential public service.
This role leads the design, resilience, security and improvement of the Serviceās technology estate, including infrastructure, cloud, networks, operational systems, supporting emergency response and public safety.

What Youāll Be Doing
As ICT Technical Manager, you will:
- Lead the Serviceās technical strategy and architecture roadmap.
- Provide technical leadership across infrastructure, networks, cloud, integrations and enterprise platforms.
- Own critical operational systems supporting emergency response.
- Lead and develop senior technical specialists and engineers.
- Act as senior technical escalation for major incidents and service disruption.
- Drive innovation, automation, resilience and continual improvement.
- Work with leaders, suppliers and partners to keep services secure, effective and future-ready.

Requirements
We are looking for a technical leader who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery. You will bring strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, balancing operational support, service improvement and project delivery in a complex environment. You will be able to translate technical concepts into clear, jargon-free recommendations and show a strong commitment to service excellence, resilience and continual improvement. Ideally, you will also have a degree-level qualification or equivalent experience, ITIL knowledge, experience in public sector, emergency services or mission-critical settings, and an understanding of systems integration, service management and technology governance.
