Job description

An employer is seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Administrator / Infrastructure Engineer who can bridge the gap between traditional system administration and modern software engineering practices. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining and automating the clients infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and clean, reusable code. The ideal candidate is a systems-focused professional who is passionate about evolving toward a more engineering-driven approach to infrastructure., Manage and administer Linux-based systems (Ubuntu 22.04+) across a multi-user environment Develop, maintain, and execute Ansible playbooks for infrastructure automation and configuration management Write and maintain Bash and Python scripts to support system operations and automation initiatives Oversee system upgrades, patching, and environment configuration Manage infrastructure as code and ensure all changes are tracked via Git version control Support and optimize virtualization environments, including both Proxmox (new) and VMware (legacy) Collaborate with infrastructure and engineering teams to improve system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency Contribute to establishing best practices around code structure, reusability, and maintainability within infrastructure workflows

This role is onsite 5 days a week in the Domain area and pay ranges from $55 - $65/hr.

Requirements

3+ years of experience with Linux system administration, specifically Ubuntu 22.04+

Hands-on expertise with Ansible (running, modifying, and creating playbooks)

Proficiency in Bash scripting for day-to-day system tasks

Working experience with Python scripting for more complex automation and tooling

Experience using Git for version control (GitHub experience preferred)

Deep understanding of system configuration, upgrades, and multi-user environments

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with Proxmox for virtualization, including automation of VM provisioning

Familiarity with VMware environments (legacy support)

Exposure to infrastructure automation and modern DevOps practices
