Job description

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Java Developer, Back End Java Developer, or strong Front End Developer to join a high-performing engineering team on a 12-month PAYE contract based in London., * Design, develop, test and maintain enterprise software applications.

Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar as part of day-to-day coding, testing and code review.
Develop RESTful APIs and web services.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning and technical discussions.
Troubleshoot, debug and resolve software issues.
Contribute to code reviews and promote engineering best practices.
Produce and maintain technical documentation.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the software engineering function.

Requirements

Strong commercial experience with Core Java and Java EE.
Experience developing RESTful APIs, web services and Service-Oriented Architecture.
Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming, Design Patterns and Application Architecture.
Experience with Spring Boot, JUnit, BDD and automated testing frameworks.
Strong SQL skills with database design experience.
Experience working within Unix/Linux environments.
Front-end development experience using HTML, TypeScript, CSS, with Angular experience highly desirable.
Good understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrable experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar within a commercial software development environment.
Strong communication skills with experience collaborating across engineering teams and business stakeholders.

Desirable

Full Stack development experience.
Experience working on large-scale enterprise applications.
Exposure to cloud technologies and modern DevOps practices.
