Oracle Engineer

The Oracle GoldenGate (OGG) Engineer is a specialist data replication and real-time integration contributor within the Healthcare Analytics & Insights Managed Services engagement. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and operational support of Oracle GoldenGate Change Data Capture (CDC) pipelines that replicate enterprise source system data - including claims, membership, enrollment, and encounter tables - in near real-time from OLTP source databases to enterprise Operational Data Store (ODS) landing zones. Working across a complex environment of Oracle source systems, enterprise analytical database landing zones, and ETL batch pipelines, this individual ensures continuous, high-fidelity data replication that powers operational reporting, real-time analytics, and downstream enterprise data warehousing., * Design, implement, and maintain Oracle GoldenGate CDC pipelines replicating enterprise source system tables - including claims, membership, provider, enrollment, and encounter data - from Oracle OLTP source databases to enterprise ODS landing zones in near real-time

• Configure and manage the full GoldenGate process lifecycle - Extract (log-based CDC from Oracle redo/archive logs), Data Pump (trail file transmission across network), and Replicat (apply DML changes to target landing zone databases)
• Monitor and maintain GoldenGate replication health across all active pipelines - lag monitoring, trail file management, disk space governance, and proactive alerting for Extract/Replicat abends
• Perform GoldenGate performance tuning - Extract parallelism, Replicat threading (Integrated / Parallel Replicat), HANDLECOLLISIONS configuration, and target database bulk apply optimisation
• Manage replication across large-scale table sets - design and maintain table-level replication configurations, DDL replication handling, and schema change management across hundreds of replicated objects
• Design and implement conflict detection and resolution (CDR) strategies - HANDLECOLLISIONS, REPERROR handling, and custom conflict resolution routines for multi-source replication environments
• Collaborate with ETL developers to ensure GoldenGate-replicated landing zone data is correctly structured and available for downstream ETL jobs and scheduled batch pipelines
• Support the dual-mode ODS architecture - real-time replication (GoldenGate) and batch integration (ETL) - ensuring both layers operate without data conflicts or timing issues
• Manage GoldenGate upgrades, patching, and version lifecycle management across development, UAT, and production environments
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for GoldenGate replication incidents - Extract abends, Replicat log spikes, trail file corruption, redo log unavailability, and target database lock contention
• Configure and maintain GoldenGate parameter files - Extract (TRANLOGOPTIONS, FETCHOPTIONS, WARNLONGTRANS), Replicat (BATCHSQL, GROUPTRANSOPS, MAXTRANSOPS), and Manager (AUTOSTART, AUTORESTART, LAGCRITICAL) for production-grade operations
• Implement GoldenGate data filtering, column mapping, and transformation logic using COLMAP, FILTER, and SQLEXEC directives for source-to-target data alignment
• Support initial data load strategies for new replication pipelines - coordinating full-load via GoldenGate Initial Load or ETL bulk load with Change Synchronisation handoff
• Manage GoldenGate security - wallet-based credential management, encrypted trail files, TLS-secured Extract-to-Pump connections, and IAM-governed cloud replication endpoints
• Support AWS migration activities - evaluating GoldenGate for Oracle to AWS (S3, Redshift, DMS) replication patterns and contributing to the modernisation roadmap
• Own L2/L3 escalations for replication incidents within defined SLAs - ensuring timely resolution and minimal downstream data impact
• Maintain comprehensive documentation including GoldenGate architecture diagrams, parameter file inventories, runbooks, and disaster recovery playbooks
• Track and manage all replication incidents, enhancements, and change requests through the ITSM platform, ensuring accurate classification and SLA compliance

• Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 5-8 years of hands-on Oracle GoldenGate experience in production environments - Extract, Data Pump, Replicat, and Manager configuration and operations
• Deep expertise in log-based Change Data Capture (CDC) using GoldenGate - Oracle redo log mining, archive log management, and supplemental logging configuration
• Strong Oracle DBA or data engineering background - schema design, SQL query proficiency, performance tuning, and production support experience
• Hands-on experience managing large-scale replication environments - 500+ tables, multi-source replication, and high-transaction-volume OLTP systems
• Proficiency in GoldenGate performance tuning - Parallel Replicat, Integrated Replicat, BATCHSQL, and Extract parallelism configuration
• Experience with GoldenGate conflict detection and resolution - HANDLECOLLISIONS, REPERROR, and custom CDR routines
• Strong SQL proficiency in Oracle and / or IBM DB2 - complex query writing, DML analysis, and replication validation queries
• Experience with GoldenGate DDL replication - managing schema changes across source and target systems without replication disruption
• Familiarity with IBM DataStage or equivalent ETL tools as downstream consumers of GoldenGate-replicated data
• Experience operating within managed services or production support models with SLA, incident management, and change control accountability
• Experience with ITSM frameworks (ServiceNow or equivalent) for incident management, change control, and SLA tracking

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle GoldenGate 21c / 23c Certified Implementation Specialist or equivalent Oracle certification
• Experience with Oracle GoldenGate Microservices Architecture (MA) - REST API-based administration, Service Manager, and Deployment management
• AWS data replication experience - GoldenGate for Oracle to AWS (Redshift, S3, Aurora), AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), or equivalent cloud CDC tools
• Experience with GoldenGate Veridata or equivalent data validation tools for replication accuracy verification
• Familiarity with Apache Kafka as a GoldenGate target or alternative CDC streaming platform - GoldenGate for Big Data / Kafka Handler
• Healthcare industry experience - claims processing, member enrollment, provider data, or encounter replication in regulated environments
• Experience with IBM IIAS (DB2) as a GoldenGate replication target - DB2 apply handler, IIAS-specific tuning, and analytical database integration
• Experience with GoldenGate in high-availability configurations - Active-Active replication, Active-Passive DR, and zero-downtime cutover strategies
• Familiarity with Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) as GoldenGate source - mining from RAC redo logs and managing multi-node Extract configurations
• Knowledge of HIPAA, HITRUST, and healthcare data security requirements relevant to real-time PHI data replication
• Background in agile delivery, DevOps practices, and CI/CD for GoldenGate parameter file versioning and deployment automation
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred
