Job description

The Clinical Applications Analyst is an early-career but highly technical role responsible for the configuration, support, and optimization of clinical applications that directly impact patient care and operational efficiency. This role demonstrates increasing ownership of assigned applications, environments, and workflows, applying structured analysis and technical problem-solving skills to ensure stability, data integrity, and effective end-user adoption. Analysts operate with growing independence, leverage SQL and system tools to investigate issues, and contribute meaningfully to application lifecycle activities while building depth in healthcare IT platforms and clinical workflows., * Configure, test, and implement clinical application solutions with defined ownership of assigned modules or workflows.

  • Perform application builds, maintenance, and troubleshooting using structured analytical approaches.
  • Independently resolve routine-to-moderate complexity support tickets; participate in on-call rotations and escalate appropriately.
  • Use SQL and reporting tools to investigate data issues, validate workflows, and support operational analysis.
  • Maintain accountability for assigned workstreams, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Develop strong partnerships with clinical and operational stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into system solutions.
  • Support observability and monitoring activities for enterprise applications, including reviewing alerts, logs, and performance metrics.
  • Contribute to team initiatives, upgrades, and enhancement efforts with clear documentation and follow-through.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

User Training and Support

  • Provide direct application support and functional guidance to end users within assigned application areas.
  • Develop and maintain job aids, workflows, and reference documentation.
  • Communicate user needs, risks, and improvement opportunities to senior analysts and project teams.

Project Management and Implementation

  • Support deployments, upgrades, and enhancement activities, owning defined tasks end to end.
  • Gather and document business and functional requirements under guidance.
  • Execute testing activities, validate outcomes, and document results following established standards.

Business Process Improvement

  • Analyze current workflows and identify inefficiencies or improvement opportunities.
  • Understand and articulate how configuration decisions impact clinical and business processes.
  • Participate in periodic system reviews when requested.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support issue resolution.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and escalation needs to team members and leadership.
  • Support coordination with vendors as directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in application support, systems analysis, or healthcare IT.
  • Familiarity with databases, software development life cycles (SDLC), and business process analysis.
  • Prior experience working with clinical applications or healthcare IT systems (e.g. Epic, Cerner, etc)
  • Experience with troubleshooting tools, SQL, and scripting languages.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong analytical, organization and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with project management or working in Agile/Scrum environments is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with Excel skills being most critical
