Job description

Join a software development team as the primary Cyber software engineer who will oversee the process of getting a software application certified for on-orbit deployment. The ideal candidate will be able to perform both Cybersecurity and DevSecOps tasking., * Getting software packages approved for on-orbit usage, as well as performing related DevSecOps tasking.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with hardening baselines, vulnerability management, cloud security and DevSecOps is desired.
  • A firm understanding of network basics, Linux and Windows operating systems, and security fundamentals is also desired.
  • The candidate must also have the ability to effectively communicate with system end-users, customers, program managers and software developers, as well as possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaboration with fellow software engineers and third party entities will be a critical part of day in the life., This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Cybersecurity Software Engineer - Level 3 or a Sr. Principal Cybersecurity Software Engineer - Level 4., * Principal Cybersecurity Software Engineer - Level 3: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and 3 years of related experience, or 1 year of experience with a PhD.
  • Sr. Principal Cybersecurity Software Engineer - Level 4: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and 6 years of related experience, or 4 years of experience with a PhD.
  • Must possess a DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government Secret security clearance at the time of application, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience getting software packages cyber certified and running DevSecOps pipelines
  • Experience configuring and administering server applications
  • Working knowledge of Cybersecurity technologies, NIST standards, and RMF governance
  • Experience with scripting, installing, and testing patches on system hosts
  • Configuring and Managing network hardware, deploying software stacks, and troubleshooting and resolving bugs and errors
  • Experience applying Cybersecurity configurations such as Firmware updates/upgrades and STIGs to a baselined system
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and implementing NIST SP 800-53 Security Controls on wide range of Information Systems including Enterprise Datacenters, Mobile units and Virtualized environments
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGS/Benchmarks and SCAP Compliance Checker
  • Familiarity in the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Cybersecurity Lifecycle to include identifying controls and overlays, generating testable requirements, providing analysis of vulnerabilities
  • Working Knowledge and ability to configure Tenable Security Center/Nessus
  • Familiarity with a SIEM (e.g., Splunk, LogRhythm, etc.)
  • Exposure to Linux and basic security concepts
  • Exposure to Host-Based Security System (HBSS)/Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS)
  • Exposure to Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)
  • Familiarity with Identity/Authentication management tools and concepts
  • Basic understand of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
  • Zero-Trust Familiarity
  • Cloud/VM knowledge and experience
  • Experience with Python and C++

Benefits & conditions

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
