Job Reference359_26_ES_CES_RE1 Job TitleHPC and Software Engineer for Earth Sciences applications (RE1)Opening and Closing DatesStarting date: ASAPClosing date: Tuesday, 18 August **About the OrganizationThe Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is Spain’s leading supercomputing center, hosting MareNostrum, one of Europe’s most powerful supercomputers.BSC-CNS is a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE, and currently hosts the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.The center integrates HPC services and research in computational science for life, earth, and engineering disciplines.It employs over 1,000 staff from 60 countries.Context And MissionWithin the BSC Earth Sciences Department, led by Prof. Francisco Doblas?Reyes, the team develops advanced, high?resolution global climate models to simulate and predict climate phenomena with unprecedented reliability.The Performance Team, a sub?group of the Computational Earth Sciences section, conducts R&D to identify and remove performance bottlenecks in Earth?System Models, evaluating metrics and modifying code to improve computational and energy efficiency.Key DutiesWork within an international, multidisciplinary research group.Improve computational metrics for quantifying performance and energy consumption of climate models in projects such as Destination Earth, FUTURA, and ENES?RISE.Analyze and reduce the carbon footprint of simulation workflows.RequirementsEducation : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline.Essential Knowledge & Experience : Proven experience optimizing scientific codes on large HPC systems; experience developing software for evaluating Earth?System Models using computational performance metrics.Additional Skills : Demonstrated verbal communication and technical presentation skills; fluency in English; high motivation and willingness to collaborate in an international multidisciplinary team.ConditionsLocation: BSC, Earth Sciences Department.Contract: Full?time (35 h/week), open?ended due to project funding timelines.Working hours: Flexible, with opportunities for training.Benefits: Restaurant tickets, private health insurance, relocation support.Holidays: 22 days + 6 personal days + 24th and 31st of December per collective agreement.Salary: Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and adjusted for cost of living in Barcelona.Equal Opportunity StatementBSC-CNS is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.We welcome applications from all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability or any other protected characteristic.#J-***-Ljbffr

Requirements
