Job description

Vultr is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer, Internal Platforms (Data & Domain) to serve as the domain modeler for Vultr’s internal control plane transformation. The ideal candidate looks at the current data model, winces, and then methodically builds the right one. This role owns the core ERP data layer: product catalog, accounts, financial events, and the APIs that expose it. This is a highly visible role in a high-growth technology company, which will require deep expertise in data modeling and domain-driven design. This is your opportunity to join our fast growing team and leave your mark on Vultr and the future of Cloud Infrastructure., * Design and implement the canonical data model for Vultr’s control plane ERP transformation: product catalog, chart of accounts, financial transactions, cost centers

  • Build and maintain the internal APIs and event streams that Finance, Analytics, and downstream systems consume
  • Refactor existing administer code toward clean domain boundaries (no more conflated orders/ledger/report tables)
  • Implement data upgrade/migration paths from legacy schemas without breaking production
  • Write the integration layer between administer and Vultr’s existing billing, provisioning, and reporting systems
  • Establish data validation and integrity checks across the financial data layer
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to translate finance domain requirements into durable schema designs
  • Document architectural decisions and data model contracts for downstream consumers, Vultr regards the lawful and correct use of personal information as important to the accomplishment of our objectives, to the success of our operations and to maintaining confidence between those with whom we deal and ourselves. Requirements

  • 5+ years backend engineering, with deep experience in data modeling, domain-driven design, or event sourcing
  • 5+ years experience with PHP
  • Has built or significantly refactored a billing, accounting, or ERP-adjacent system
  • Strong SQL and schema design skills (knows when to normalize, when to denormalize, and when to use events)
  • Has done live upgrades before and has the war stories to prove it
  • Familiarity with domain-driven design patterns: aggregates, value objects, bounded contexts
