LI-HybridLocation: Barcelona, SpainRelocation Support: This role is based in Barcelona, Spain.Novartis is unable to offer relocation support: please only apply if accessible.This position is a Hybrid position with an expectation of 12 days a month onsite at our Barcelona Gran Via offices.As an Associate Clinical Programmer, you will help develop analytics, reporting, and AI-enabled solutions that support Clinical Data Operations.By working with clinical and operational data, you’ll contribute to data pipelines and insights that help teams identify risk, improve efficiency, and support informed decision-making across clinical studies.You’ll collaborate with experienced programmers, analysts, and subject matter experts while building your expertise in clinical research, data analytics, and emerging technologies.Key Responsibilities- Perform data extraction, data cleaning, and data aggregation according to defined specifications.- Build and maintain analytics, reporting, and visualization solutions under the guidance of senior team members.- Run standard validation checks, document results, and promptly elevate identified issues.- Execute scheduled jobs and data refreshes, monitor run status, and document outcomes.- Maintain and update runbooks, data dictionaries, and user guidance materials.- Develop small utility scripts, participate in code reviews, and follow version control and continuous integration practices.- Complete structured learning pathways and collaborate closely with senior colleagues and subject matter experts.Essential Requirements- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Analytics, Life Sciences, or a related discipline, with project, thesis, or research experience demonstrating analytical problem-solving.- Additional postgraduate research or industry experience would be an advantage.- Working knowledge of Python or R, combined with experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) or SAS to manipulate, transform, analyse, and interpret data.- Understanding of data analytics and data science concepts, with exposure to machine learning, artificial intelligence, or related technologies through academic or professional projects.- Ability to work with complex datasets and contribute to analytics, reporting, or visualization solutions that support business decisions and operational insights.- Awareness of clinical research and clinical trial operations, including familiarity with Clinical Data Operations, Good Clinical Practice, Electronic Data Capture systems, or Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium standards, would be beneficial.- Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams and subject matter experts.Benefits & RewardsAt Novartis, we’re committed to reimagining medicine together - and rewarding the people who make it happen.Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role: € 27,****,The base salary offered is determined based on gender-neutral objectives, such as relevant skills, competencies and experience in accordance with the Novartis pay setting policy and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically.In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for a performance-based bonus depending on certain performance parameters.The rewards of being part of our team go far beyond base pay and incentives.We also offer a variety of competitive benefits in kind to help you thrive personally and professionally, such as insurance plans, retirement plans, wellbeing resources and global recognition programs.In addition, we provide flexible and hybrid working options, where possible, and minimum 14 weeks paid parental leave.Read our brochure to learn more about our global total rewards offering:Note: Benefits and compensation may vary by country and are subject to local legal requirements, including provisions of collective bargaining agreements where applicable.A full overview of your compensation package, including any relevant collective bargaining agreement details applicable to your role based on your employment location and Novartis employer entity, will be communicated separately to you during the application process.Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion / EEONovartis is committed to building an outstanding, inclusive work environment and diverse teams’ representative of the patients and communities we serve.#J-**-Ljbffr

Requirements
