Job description
OverviewThe Signal and Information Processing for Sensing Systems Group is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to support the analysis, management, and modelling of health?related chemical instrumentation and clinical data.The role combines machine learning, statistical data analysis, scientific programming, and research software maintenance within biomedical and metabolomics?oriented projects.Responsibilities- Development and validation of machine learning algorithms for health?related experimental data.- Improvement of data analysis workflows for metabolomics, chemical sensing, and instrumental data.- Programming primarily in R, with possible use of Python and MATLAB.- Development and maintenance of R packages and reusable analysis pipelines.- Maintenance of group GitHub repositories, MLflow documentation, datasets, and computational workflows.- Preparation and updating of Data Management Plans.- Support in the administration of the Linux cluster, NAS storage, and data organisation infrastructure.- Application of statistical modelling, machine learning, and, when relevant, signal processing methods.Essential Requirements- Degree or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related areas.- Strong background in statistics, data science, and machine learning.- High programming skills, particularly in R.- Basic knowledge of Linux environments.- Interest in biomedical, chemical sensing, metabolomics, or health?related data.- High level of English.Desirable Qualifications- Experience with Python and/or MATLAB.- Experience with health data, metabolomics, chemical instrumentation data, or sensor signals.- Knowledge of signal processing.- Experience with GitHub, MLflow, R package development, or reproducible research workflows.- Familiarity with Linux cluster environments, NAS systems, or scientific data management.Core Competencies- Communication, teamwork, commitment, proactivity, integrity, critical thinking, and analytical reasoning.Benefits- Number of available positions: 1.- Starting date: 1st September **.- Full?time position (37.5 hrs/week) on an open?ended contract linked to project and budget duration.- Work?life balance measures, including flexible schedule, 23 working days of paid holidays, and 9 personal leave days.- Support for visa?work permit and relocation assistance for foreigners.- Access to IBEC training catalogue, mobility grants, and mentoring program.Equal OpportunityIBEC is an equal?opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, supporting employees irrespective of their gender, nationality, religion, disability, age, sexual identity, or socioeconomic background.Data PrivacyIBEC guarantees that candidates’ personal data are processed in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for purposes of the selection process.#J-***-Ljbffr
Requirements
