Principal Platform Engineer

Experteer Overview In this role you will help design, implement, and field a provisioning and procurement system that orchestrates infrastructure across cloud environments for DoD customers. You’ll work on Kubernetes, IaC, and secure software delivery to empower cyber operators. The position combines full-stack engineering with infrastructure, aiming to deliver scalable, automated, and mission-ready solutions. You’ll join a mission-focused team that values pragmatic engineering and rapid, reliable execution. Compensation / Benefits * Research and develop Kubernetes- and cloud-based systems (AWS/Azure) * Provision and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform, Crossplane, or Ansible * Manage specialized environments using KIND to bridge development and operations * Deploy and maintain AI workloads to solve customer challenges * Identify bottlenecks and optimize performance across the stack * Deploy, manage, and maintain Kubernetes across environments * Monitor and optimize workloads with Helm and Kustomize * Design and operate CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments * Ensure infrastructure security with FIPS, Zero Trust, and identity management * Automate processes to improve reliability and reduce manual work * Collaborate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives * Create documentation and stay updated on industry trends * Support mission continuity through robust recovery processes Tasks * Mission-focused mindset with emphasis on cyber dominance * Bias for action and ownership to drive to mission completion * Current Top Secret with SCI eligibility clearance * Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (or 4+ years hands-on equivalent) * 8+ years of experience as Platform or Full Stack Engineer * Proficiency with Kubernetes in production * Experience with Prometheus monitoring * Experience with Helm for packaging apps * Strong collaboration skills and ability to work independently * Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps deployments * Proficiency with containerization (Docker, Podman) * Knowledge of IaC tools such as Terraform * Experience with Go and/or Python * Ability to thrive in a high-trust startup environment Key requirements *
