Principal Platform Engineer

Experteer Overview In this role you design, implement, and field scalable infrastructure for cyber operations, focusing on secure software delivery and automation. You work across backend, cloud, and DevSecOps to enable mission-critical capabilities for DoD customers. You will help build a provisioning and procurement system to automate infrastructure pathways, then broaden functionality for data transport and signature reduction. Compensation / Benefits * Research and develop Kubernetes- and cloud-based systems (AWS/Azure) * Provision and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform, Crossplane, or Ansible * Operate environments with KIND to connect development and production * Deploy and maintain AI workloads as needed to solve customer challenges * Identify bottlenecks and optimize features across the stack (latency, resources) * Deploy, manage, and maintain Kubernetes across dev and prod * Monitor and optimize workloads with Helm and Kustomize * Understand network policies, load balancing, and service discovery * Design and operate CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments * Enforce infrastructure security with FIPS, Zero Trust, and identity management * Drive automation to remove manual work and improve reliability * Monitor availability and security with Prometheus and Grafana * Troubleshoot incidents and implement automated long-term fixes * Ensure mission continuity through robust recovery processes * Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retros * Create documentation and stay updated on industry trends Tasks * Mission-focused with emphasis on cyber dominance for national security objectives * Bias for action and ownership to drive projects to completion * Current Top Secret with SCI eligibility clearance * Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or 4 years of equivalent hands-on experience) * 8+ years of industry experience as a Platform Engineer or Full Stack Engineer * Proficiency with Kubernetes in production * Experience with Kubernetes monitoring (Prometheus) * Experience with Helm charts for packaging * Team collaboration and ability to work independently * Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps deployments * Proficient with containerization (Docker, Podman) * Understanding of IaC tools (Terraform) * Proficiency in Go, Python or similar languages Key requirements *
