Job description

The Network and Systems Administrator design, implements, maintains, and supports the organization’s servers, network systems, and core IT services, ensuring secure, reliable Windows Server performance aligned with organizational needs and best practices. Employment type: Contract w2/1099/C2C Complete Description: The Network and Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the organization’s server infrastructure, network systems, and core IT services. This role focuses heavily on Windows Server administration, system performance, security, and reliability. The administrator ensures that all systems operate efficiently, securely, and in alignment with organizational needs and industry best practices. Responsibilities: Windows Server Administration Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022). Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and domain services. Perform server patching, updates, and lifecycle management. Monitor server performance, availability, and capacity planning. Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or Azure Virtual Machines). Network Administration Maintain and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks. Monitor network performance, bandwidth usage, and connectivity issues. Implement and maintain network security controls, including VLANs, VPNs, and access policies. Support IP addressing, routing, and network segmentation. Systems Maintenance & Support Perform daily system checks, backups, and disaster recovery testing. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues across servers and endpoints. Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and system architecture. Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for escalated issues. Security & Compliance Implement and maintain security best practices across servers and networks. Manage endpoint protection, patch management, and vulnerability remediation. Support compliance with organizational policies, audits, and regulatory requirements. Monitor logs, alerts, and system events for potential security risks. Cloud & Modern Infrastructure Support hybrid environments using Azure, Microsoft 365, or other cloud platforms. Manage cloud identity, access, and security configurations. Assist with cloud migrations, modernization projects, and automation initiatives. Collaboration & Project Support Work closely with IT leadership, application teams, and vendors to support infrastructure needs. Participate in planning and implementing new technologies and system upgrades. Provide recommendations for improving system reliability, performance, and security.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience. Required 20 Years · 16+ yrs. installing and configuring system hardware/software in an enterprise environment. Required 16 Years · 16+ yrs. performing daily backups. Required 16 Years · 16+ yrs. troubleshooting server and other hardware issues. Required 16 Years · Strong experience with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, and Group Policy. Required 4 Years · Proficiency with DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, and firewall technologies. Required 10 Years · Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper V). Required 10 Years · Familiarity with backup solutions, disaster recovery, and monitoring tools. Required 10 Years · Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Required 10 Years · 16+ yrs. monitoring networks to ensure security and availability. Highly desired 16 Years · 16+ yrs. installing operating system (OS) patches and upgrades. Highly desired 16 Years · Experience with Azure, Microsoft 365, or hybrid cloud environments. Highly desired 10 Years · Experience with enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS). Highly desired 10 Years · Relevant certifications such as: o MCSA / MCSE, o CompTIA Network+ / Security+, VMware VCP, Azure Administrator (AZ 104). Highly desired 10 Years
