Job description
Microsoft Foundry is building the foundational platforms that power the next generation of intelligent agents and generative AI systems. Within CoreAI, the Foundry Agents organization is responsible for key ownership areas across the endtoend agent lifecycle: (a) Foundry Agents platform to deploy and run agents securely at enterprise scale with seamless integration with governed tools, (b) model finetuning to train and improve agentic performance, and (c) Foundry observability to generate insights from agentic traces and continuously evaluate and optimize agents.
As a Senior Software Engineer within Foundry Agents, you will build and evolve largescale, cloudnative systems that span the full lifecycle of advanced agentic applications - from secure enterprise deployment and governed tool integration, to finetuning and training workflows, to observability, evaluation, and optimization in production. Your work will directly contribute to how developers and enterprises build reliable, autonomous, and highimpact AI agents.
You will work at the intersection of distributed systems, AI infrastructure, and developer platforms, contributing to the design and implementation of systems that must meet high standards of performance, reliability, security, and compliance. This role requires strong technical skills, solid systems thinking, and the ability to translate product, engineering, and research needs into scalable platform capabilities.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. We bring that mission to life through a culture that values growth mindset, diverse perspectives, and continuous learning. Join us and help shape the future of AIpowered software.
Responsibilities
Across the organization, you will:
- Build and scale services that support secure agent deployment and execution, governed tool integration, training/finetuning, and observability/evaluation
- Design and implement distributed systems and cloud services to run agents reliably at enterprise scale
- Improve developer and researcher workflows through better tooling, abstractions, and automation across finetuning, evaluation, and optimization
- Debug and optimize interactions across models, data, and infrastructure
- Contribute to technical design and implementation across the software development lifecycle
- Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, reliability, and operational excellence
- Collaborate closely with partner teams across CoreAI and Azure to deliver productionready platform capabilities
You will contribute to a strong engineering culture through thoughtful design discussions, code reviews, and collaboration across teams. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your technical scope while helping to build the platforms that enable intelligent agent systems at scale.
