Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you will lead hands-on cryogenic quantum hardware experiments and enable scalable quantum systems at Microsoft Quantum. You’ll work closely with scientists, hardware engineers, and partners to push experimental learning and advance towards useful quantum computing. You will design, operate, and optimize cryogenic setups and data workflows, shaping the path from lab experiments to deliverable quantum technology. This role offers impact across hardware, software, and AI-enabled workflows in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment. Compensation / Benefits * Plan and execute cryogenic quantum hardware experiments, including device bring-up, characterization, calibration, data analysis, and troubleshooting of low-temperature systems * Operate, maintain, and improve dilution refrigerator systems, wiring, vacuum, thermal anchoring, filtering, shielding for reliable measurements * Configure and debug RF/microwave control/readout chains, DC electronics, data acquisition, signal generators, digitizers, amplifiers, and custom test setups * Develop scripts and workflows for experiment automation, data collection, system monitoring, and reproducible measurement execution * Collaborate with scientists, engineers, vendors, and architects to integrate devices and software into stable experimental platforms * Support lab readiness, safety, compliance, and documentation to enable milestones Tasks * Doctorate in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years in industry or R&D OR Master’s in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years in industry or R&D OR Bachelor’s in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years in industry or R&D OR equivalent experience * Ability to meet Microsoft security screenings and export control requirements Key requirements *
