Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Cloud Technical Architect to join one of our clients in the large food distribution industry. This individual will play a critical role in the organization’s enterprise Data Platform initiative, focused on building a scalable data lake within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and supporting the migration of data and applications from AWS to GCP. This is a highly visible role that will partner closely with data architects, engineers, application teams, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure that supports the company’s long-term cloud transformation strategy. While exposure to data analytics and data science environments is beneficial, this position is primarily focused on GCP infrastructure architecture, cloud engineering, and data platform enablement., * Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of GCP infrastructure supporting enterprise-scale data platform initiatives.

  • Architect and manage highly available, secure, and scalable cloud solutions within Google Cloud Platform.
  • Support the organization’s migration of data workloads and infrastructure from AWS to GCP.
  • Partner with application teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and provide ongoing operational support.
  • Develop cloud migration strategies, assess current environments, identify infrastructure gaps, and recommend remediation plans.
  • Design, implement, and optimize core GCP services, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Spanner, Dataflow, Dataproc, networking, private service access, and IAM solutions to support scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud environments.
  • Establish and enforce cloud governance, security, access controls, resource management, and cost optimization best practices.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve cloud infrastructure issues while maintaining high availability and performance.
  • Collaborate with data architects, developers, network engineers, security teams, and cloud providers to ensure seamless solution delivery.
  • Drive infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) initiatives using tools such as Terraform, GitHub, Jenkins, and Docker.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, engineering discussions, and continuous improvement efforts across the cloud environment.
  • Serve as a technical leader and trusted advisor for internal stakeholders across the organization.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of overall IT industry experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience designing and supporting infrastructure within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong expertise with GCP networking, security, storage, database, and compute services.
  • Experience architecting and supporting cloud-based and hybrid-cloud infrastructures.
  • Experience supporting cloud migrations and enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Professional-level GCP Certification required (Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Database Engineer, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of GCP security controls, including IAM, RBAC, and organizational policies.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and DevOps practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work directly with internal customers and cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting data platform, analytics, or data science environments.
  • Exposure to enterprise data lake architectures.
  • Knowledge of modern data engineering and analytics platforms within GCP. Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments undergoing cloud transformation
