Job description

The Southwick-Tolland-Granville RSD Information Technology department seeks a customer service focused Technology Support Specialist to provide technical assistance to faculty, staff and students within the District. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service while resolving service requests/incidents in a timely manner, facilitating efficient and effective learning and administrative activities, and being a positive contributor to the Southwick Schools Information Technology team., * Demonstrates initiative, decision-making ability with proven follow through skills.?

  • Manages workload and competing priorities to accomplish tasks within agreed upon timeframes.?
  • Configure, install and update computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, including new computers, anti-virus programs, and other various security updates?

  • Strives to resolve malware and virus issues within district workstations and network??
  • Repairs and maintains district computers, and other technology equipment as needed?
  • Works with team members to troubleshoot both complex and routine computer issues??
  • Contributes to the overall operations of the IT department by writing and distributing “how-to” documentation about best practices for computer and systems use?
  • Maintain hardware inventory for accurate fixed assets accounting.??
  • Manage the allocation and maintenance of IT hardware and software resources to ensure optimal performance.
  • Communicate with a broad range of users (faculty, staff and students) about technical topics at a level appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Assist district with media technology as needed.?
  • Stays up with current technology trends that will help the district with technology?
  • Leverage the centralized Helpdesk solution to provide technical support to users with all aspects of computing operations. Review, prioritize and resolve helpdesk requests using established best practices including detailed ticket documentation.?
  • Uphold the universal competencies of teamwork, maintaining a safe and secure work environment, and diversity commitment.?
  • Performs various duties depending on circumstances and current district technology needs??
  • Ensure network and desktop compliance with published standards utilized by the School District and with relevant laws and regulations, particularly regarding data security and privacy.
  • Coordinate with administrative staff, support staff, technical personnel, or vendors to solve problems as required including LAN & WAN.?
  • Coordinate and support, as needed, end-user technology training programs to enhance their competence and confidence in using school technology resources effectively.

Physical Requirements:???

The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs for extended periods of time and may require the use of step stool or ladder whenever necessary.? Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects.???

The position will also require lifting objects of up to 50 pounds. Fine motor skills are needed for typing at keyboards for long periods of time.

Environmental Conditions:? The applicant is required to work indoors and travel between school buildings. The regular chemical solvents are toners and cleaning fluids.?

Requirements

  • A.S in Computer Science (mathematics, statistics or other business-related field) preferred.?
  • 3-5 years of IT related experience demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills preferably in an educational setting.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.??
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications, the Office 365 Cloud Environment, and Microsoft server network environments preferred.
  • Experience providing technical support and guidance in an IT support, help desk or IT related role;?
  • Experience with basic system administration tasks in a Windows operating system environment
  • Ability to demonstrate practical troubleshooting and problem analysis techniques, as well as manage multiple priorities.
  • Understanding data integration problems, including validation and cleaning of data.?
  • Familiarity with student related software programs (i.e Math, English and Science)?
  • Demonstrable skills for and commitment to good customer relationship management.

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to??

4:00 p.m. This position may require extended hours and/or occasional weekend work.??

Terms of Employment: Full year salary position with paid holidays, vacation, and benefits?

Salary Range:? $52,000 - $57,000- Based on years of experience??
