Job description

The Desktop Support Technician provides technical support for end users, ensuring the reliable operation of hardware, software, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment. This role is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving IT issues, supporting device deployments, and delivering excellent customer service to minimize disruptions to business operations., * Provide on-site and remote technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripheral equipment.

  • Respond to and resolve service requests and incidents through the organization’s ticketing system.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, application, and network connectivity issues.
  • Install, configure, image, and deploy computers, mobile devices, and related equipment.
  • Support user account administration, including password resets, account access, and permissions management.
  • Assist users with Microsoft Office 365, email, collaboration tools, and other business applications.
  • Perform hardware upgrades, device replacements, and basic break/fix support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, service requests, assets, and resolutions.
  • Support virtual meeting technologies, remote access tools, and mobile device management solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams and vendors to resolve escalated issues.
  • Maintain hardware inventory and assist with asset lifecycle management, including deployment, recovery, and disposal.
  • Provide user training and guidance on technology tools, security practices, and company procedures.
  • Follow established IT policies, security standards, and operational processes.
  • Participate in technology rollouts, upgrades, refresh projects, and other IT initiatives.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in desktop support, technical support, or help desk environments.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and common desktop hardware.
  • Experience using ITSM/ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Remedy, etc.).
  • Familiarity with imaging tools, hardware deployment, and device lifecycle management.
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and wireless connectivity.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with SCCM/MECM, Autopilot, Intune, Jamf, or other endpoint management platforms.
  • Experience supporting macOS, virtual desktop environments (VDI), and mobile devices (iOS/Android).
  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft, or other relevant technical certifications.

Benefits & conditions

This is a Contract position based out of Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
