Job description

· Lead hands-on development and sprint execution for complex Pega workflows, case types, rules, data objects, user experiences, reports, and integrations.

· Translate architecture and design direction into technical stories, development tasks, estimates, dependencies, and implementation sequencing.

· Coordinate day-to-day work across Pega developers and collaborate with System Architects, data/integration engineers, testers, and release personnel.

· Implement high-complexity features while promoting configuration-first patterns, reuse, guardrail compliance, modularity, and upgradeability.

· Conduct peer reviews of rules, configurations, custom extensions, unit tests, and technical documentation; identify and correct quality or maintainability issues.

· Mentor senior and mid-level developers in Pega patterns, debugging, performance, security, accessibility, and documentation practices.

· Support integration design, data mapping, role-based access, audit history, reporting, and operational behavior within assigned components.

· Lead technical defect triage, root-cause analysis, remediation, and regression support for complex development issues.

· Support sprint demonstrations, release readiness, deployment validation, post-deployment stabilization, and production support.

· Maintain technical documentation and provide transparent progress, risk, and dependency information to architecture and delivery leadership.

Requirements

· 8+ years of software or enterprise application development experience, including 5+ years of hands-on Pega development experience.

· Demonstrated experience leading the work of Pega developers while remaining an active contributor.

· Advanced knowledge of Pega case management, workflows, rules, data pages, integrations, user-interface configuration, security, reporting, and unit testing.

· Experience decomposing designs into technical stories and coordinating complex implementation across multiple sprints or components.

· Experience conducting Pega configuration or code reviews and enforcing guardrails, reuse, maintainability, and documentation standards.

· Strong troubleshooting, performance-analysis, defect-resolution, and root-cause-analysis skills.

· Experience with Agile delivery, CI/CD, version control, testing, release planning, and production support.

· Strong technical leadership, mentoring, written communication, and collaboration skills.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

· Pega Certified Senior System Architect certification is preferred; Lead System Architect certification or equivalent experience is a plus.

· Experience with Pega Cloud, Deployment Manager, PegaUnit, Scenario Testing, or Pega Diagnostic Center.

· Experience in Federal, financial, acquisition, health, or another regulated environment; VA experience is optional.

· Familiarity with Section 508, FedRAMP, Zero Trust, API integration, AI-enabled workflow, or performance tuning.

EDUCATION:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CLEARANCE:

· Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

We are seeking a senior, hands-on Pega Developer to lead sprint-level implementation for an enterprise Pega Cloud modernization effort within the Department of Veterans Affairs. Working within architecture established by the Lead and System Architects, this role guides technical decomposition, complex configuration, peer review, mentoring, defect resolution, and release readiness while remaining actively engaged in development. The position is a delivery lead rather than the program’s architecture authority.
