Job description
Employment in this role is conditional upon successful execution of the contract by the client.
The current period of performance is scheduled to end onJune 30, 2027; however, the client retains the unilateral right to extend the contract.
The Database Administrator is responsible for the management, maintenance, security, and performance of all production and non-production databases supporting the clientâs Information Technology office. This position oversees standards and design for physical data storage and access, ensures robust backup and recovery capabilities, optimizes database performance and resource utilization, and produces documentation and reports required by the clientâs IT policies and procedures.

- Manage and maintain all production and non-production databases.
- Monitor database health, capacity, and performance, and take corrective action as needed.
- Ensure database environments are stable, secure, and aligned with our clientâs IT standards.
- Data Storage Standards and Security Administration
- Maintain responsibility for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration.
- Define and enforce policies for data access, user permissions, and security roles.
- Implement appropriate security controls and best practices to protect data integrity and confidentiality.
- Backup, Recovery, and Data Repository Design
- Perform backup and recovery on Database Management Systems.
- Configure database parameters and prototype designs against logical data models.
- Define data repository requirements, data dictionaries, and warehousing requirements to support our Clientâs IT and Department needs.
- Performance Optimization and Resource Allocation
- Optimize database access and allocate/re-allocate database resources for optimum configuration, database performance, and cost.
- Analyze performance metrics and query execution plans to identify bottlenecks and implement tuning strategies.
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure end-to-end performance objectives are met.
Requirements
The qualifications and skills listed below are intended to provide a general overview of the requirements for this position. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to adapt to evolving responsibilities as outlined by the client.
- Experience serving as an ADABAS Database Administrator (DBA) and working with Software AG products hosted in a mainframe environment.
- At least three (3) years of experience with database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration in a multi-platform environment.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Managing and maintaining all production and non-production databases.
- Performing backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configuring database parameters and prototype designs against logical data models, and defining data repository requirements, data dictionaries, and warehousing requirements.
- Optimizing database access and allocating/re-allocating database resources to achieve optimal configuration, database performance, and cost efficiency.
- Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
Minimum Skills Required:
- Must possess problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
- High proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.
- Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
- Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
- Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.
- Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with DB2, * Professional remote office environment with the ability to travel and work onsite at the clientâs facility.
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
- Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
- May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
- May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
- May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.
