Job description
We are seeking an experienced IT Senior Consultant (Level 5) with deep expertise in enterprise storage and backup technologies. This role provides highly technical, specialized guidance on complex information processing challenges, leads major technology projects, and supports mission critical environments essential to national security., * Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade, and support diverse storage and backup platforms and associated management tools
- Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and related technologies
- Follow engineering and architecture standards; participate in technical reviews
- Evaluate, deploy, manage, and integrate emerging technologies in coordination with engineers and architects
- Provide incident support and participate in an on call rotation (off-hours and weekends)
- Create and maintain technical documentation including diagrams, run books, and engineering artifacts
- Drive continuous improvement of systems and processes
- Oversee installation and upgrades of storage hardware, operating systems, and software according to SOPs
- Ensure monitoring and reporting of system capacity, performance, and utilization
- Stay current on industry developments to assist federal staff with future technology planning
- Manage project work as defined by the government
- Lead medium to large complex projects and major phases of very large projects
- Deliver specialized technical guidance and solutions for complex IT challenges
- Prepare detailed analyses, reports, and presentations for stakeholders
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (must already be held)
- High School Diploma/GED with 20 years relevant experience
- OR Associate’s Degree with 15 years relevant experience
- OR Bachelor’s Degree with 12 years relevant experience
- IAT Level II (Security+ CE, GSEC, CySA+, CCNA Security, or GICSP)
- Hands on NetApp experience (must-have)
- Engineering experience with SAN and NAS storage technologies
- Knowledge of S3, CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, and Fiber Channel block storage
- Experience with storage and backup capacity planning; familiarity with Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity, Rubrik, and CommVault
- Performance tuning and optimization of storage/backup environments
- Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies
- Senior-level experience with large-scale system design and multi-data center operations
- Strong understanding of high-availability storage concepts
- Knowledge of core hardware components including disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, and RAID
- Understanding of performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls)
- Strong foundation in essential TCP/IP concepts (TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP)
- Experience integrating storage arrays with hypervisor technologies such as Nutanix, VMware VCF, and OpenStack
- Knowledge of federal security and hardening requirements including FISMA and STIGs
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Benefits & conditions
This position is offered at 0.8 FTE (approximately 32 hours per week) with potential to transition to full-time based on project needs and performance.
