Job description

The Data Security Engineer monitors and manages database security and auditing solutions, adapts and improves security and compliance controls to different organizations and database implementations, and acts as a proactive, trusted advisor to enterprises.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency with relational database technologies using SQL
  • Experience with database monitoring (such as security, auditing, performance, uptime, etc…)
  • Experience with supporting technologies that interact with databases (OS, networking, scripting, etc…)
  • Experience applying security controls and/or compliance mandates to database implementations
  • Experience communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with incident response, such as investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues while under time constraints or pressure ALSO DESIRABLE:

  • Knowledge of big data (Hadoop)
  • Knowledge of mainframe (DB2 on zOS)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and/or cloud database-as-a-service (Amazon RDS, Azure Cloud SQL)
  • Security or compliance related certifications
  • Knowledge of the following products: o SIM/SIEM o Wireshark/packet capture
