Job description

We are seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize IBM DB2 database environments supporting mission-critical enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database installation, administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security, and high availability., Install, configure, upgrade, and administer IBM DB2 database environments.

Monitor database health, performance, and availability.

Perform database performance tuning and query optimization.

Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

Manage database security, user access, roles, and privileges.

Troubleshoot database issues, resolve incidents, and perform root cause analysis.

Implement database patches, fixes, and version upgrades.

Support database replication, clustering, and high-availability configurations.

Work closely with application developers to optimize SQL queries and database design.

Automate routine DBA tasks using shell scripting or PowerShell.

Create and maintain database documentation and operational procedures.

Participate in production deployments and provide on-call support when required.

Requirements

7+ years of experience as an IBM DB2 Database Administrator.

Strong hands-on experience with IBM DB2 LUW or DB2 for zOS.

Expertise in database installation, configuration, migration, and upgrades.

Strong experience with SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and query optimization.

Experience with backup, recovery, HADR, replication, and disaster recovery.

Knowledge of database monitoring and performance tuning tools.

Experience with Linux, UNIX, or Windows server administration.

Scripting experience using Shell, Bash, PowerShell, or Python.

Familiarity with database security and compliance best practices.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with IBM Data Studio and DB2 utilities.

Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Experience with CICD pipelines and DevOps practices.

IBM DB2 Database Administration certification is preferred.

Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL is a plus.

Education

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Relevant IBM DB2 certifications are highly preferred.
