Senior Staff Software Engineer (Security)

Experteer Overview In this role you will help design and build security for Aurora’s autonomous vehicle and cloud platforms, ensuring safety and reliability across systems. You will lead hands-on implementation, architect security solutions, and drive secure integration with partners and OEMs. You’ll mentor engineers and align security work with product goals, contributing to a safer mobility ecosystem. This is a high-impact, cross-functional position at the core of Aurora’s security strategy and vehicle platform. Compensation / Benefits * Design and architect systems that meet Aurora’s security goals within the Safety Case * Lead hands-on implementation of vehicle and cloud security systems * Drive successful integration of security capabilities with partner teams * Collaborate with Vehicle Platform partners and OEMs to ensure secure integration on the Aurora Driver platform * Guide and mentor both security and non-security engineers Tasks * BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience * Production-quality code in C++ and Golang * Strong collaboration and communication with technical and non-technical audiences * Translate product requirements into code independently * Write high-quality production code with unit and integration tests * Debug across module boundaries * Familiarity with cryptographic protocols, infrastructure and network security best practices * Ability to lead a team and manage projects cross-functionally * Minimum 2 years in security-specific or security-adjacent industry * Minimum 10 years of software development experience Key requirements * annual bonus * equity compensation * health and benefits * flexible/hybrid work environment * paid time off * career development opportunities
