Senior Embedded Systems Engineer

Experteer Overview As a senior embedded systems engineer, you will design, develop, integrate, and validate embedded software and hardware for mission-critical applications. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver robust systems across the full product lifecycle, from concept to field deployment. You will tackle real-time processing, sensor integration, and interfaces in constrained environments, shaping solutions that meet stringent performance requirements. You will operate in a defense-focused environment that emphasizes reliability, traceability Compensation / Benefits * Develop embedded software architectures, firmware, and real-time control logic for sensor-driven systems across multiple platforms * Design, implement, and debug device drivers and interfaces (serial, CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, RF transceivers) * Integrate software with hardware components such as microcontrollers, DSPs, FPGAs, sensors, actuators, and power systems * Develop and maintain real-time software in bare-metal, RTOS, or Linux environments * Implement state machines, control loops, data acquisition modules, and system-level embedded behaviors * Support system-level integration including hardware bring-up, interface verification, troubleshooting, and performance tuning * Develop tools, scripts, and build systems for firmware deployment, cross-compilation, and multi-target development * Perform analysis, simulation, and testing to ensure robustness and timing performance under diverse conditions * Lead technical investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions for embedded issues * Collaborate with cross-functional teams on requirements, architecture decisions, and design reviews * Prepare technical documentation, design artifacts, test reports, and customer briefings * Mentor junior engineers in embedded development practices and methodologies Tasks * Extensive experience in embedded software engineering across multiple processing platforms * Proficiency with real-time operating systems and embedded device drivers * Strong hardware-software integration skills and familiarity with sensor and RF components * Experience with bare-metal, RTOS-based, and Linux-based real-time software * Ability to model and implement control loops, state machines, and data acquisition * Experience with system integration, debugging, and performance tuning * Knowledge of build systems, cross-compilation, and multi-target development * Proven track record delivering embedded systems through full product lifecycle * Strong collaboration and mentoring abilities Key requirements * Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Coverage * Life/ADD & Short/Long Term Disability Insurance * 401(k) Savings Plan * Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) * Paid Time-Off (PTO) * Holidays enrollment and Education Reimbursement
