Job description
Versant is seeking a Transmission Technology Manager to manage the technology, tools, and vendor solutions that support Transmission and Acquisition operations across our broadcast environment. This role will partner closely with Engineering, Production, Network Engineering, Broadcast Distribution, external partners, and vendors to support reliable live-to-air operations while identifying, implementing, and maintaining emerging broadcast technologies. Why This Role Matters: This role is critical to keeping Versantâs transmission infrastructure reliable, scalable, and prepared for the future. By managing operational technology, vendor relationships, equipment upgrades, and proof-of-concept initiatives, this person will help ensure the continuity and quality of audio, video, and data delivery across a fast-moving media environment. This role is required to work on-site at Versantâs New Jersey office. What Youâll Do
- Partner with Engineering teams to ensure transmission and acquisition equipment remains operational, properly maintained, and upgraded through coordinated maintenance windows.
- Procure, implement, and manage existing and emerging broadcast technologies, tools, and solutions that support reliable live transmission operations.
- Lead proofs of concept for new tools and technologies, evaluating operational value, scalability, security requirements, and implementation needs.
- Collaborate with Production, Network Engineering, and Broadcast Distribution teams to advance current and future streaming video initiatives.
- Manage vendor relationships, including equipment procurement, vendor onboarding, security review coordination, and service performance.
- Review telecom and vendor invoices, contracts, and service-level agreements to identify service improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in a live-to-air television operations environment, such as a Transmission Operations Center or Network Operations Center, with responsibility for audio, video, and data quality and service continuity.
- Hands-on expertise operating and configuring transmission facility hardware, including LiveU systems, satellite receivers, antennas, IP/ASI encoders and decoders, and IP and SDI video plant routers.
- Strong knowledge of operational technology within a 24/7 television or broadcast facility.
- Effective presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain project plans, budgets, procedures, risks, and technical recommendations to a range of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Word, PowerPoint, and Teams, as well as other collaborative platforms.
- A highly organized and detail-oriented approach, with strong follow-through and a solutions-focused mindset for troubleshooting and workflow improvement.

- Teamwork: You build productive partnerships across Engineering, Production, Distribution, and vendor teams.
- Transparency: You communicate status, risks, costs, and recommendations clearly and directly.

- Entrepreneurial Spirit: You identify practical improvements, smarter tools, more efficient workflows, and cost-saving opportunities. Bonus points include deep subject-matter expertise in transmission, acquisition, or broadcast operations technology within a 24/7 media environment; experience managing vendor service-level agreements, telecom services, security reviews, or technology onboarding; and familiarity with streaming video workflows and the intersection of traditional broadcast and IP-based distribution.

The pay range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000., VERSANT Media is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. We include a good faith pay range for each position to comply with applicable state and local pay transparency laws and to promote equity across our organization. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as the candidateâs skills, qualifications, experience, and location and may include additional forms of compensation and benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, etc.
