Job description

Role Overview The Software Architect will support application and database components for the Wadsworth ELAP program. The position involves participating in design reviews, evaluating existing data sets, and modifying/supporting legacy client-server systems while preparing them for transition to modern web-based versions. Key Responsibilities

  • Implement requirements by designing, coding, and testing new application features.
  • Document code-based business rules and system design.
  • Create and optimize database objects, complex queries, and ETL scripts.
  • Prepare procedural documentation, process diagrams, and step-by-step guides for ongoing application support.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer and mentoring sessions for State staff and other consultants.

Requirements

  • Experience Level: Expert (84+ months of industry experience providing guidance to large teams).
  • PowerBuilder: 84+ months of experience coding client-server relational database applications.
  • Oracle & PL/SQL: 84+ months creating tables, stored procedures, triggers, views, and related objects.
  • Complex SQL & Data Engineering: 48+ months writing complex SQL queries (multiple JOINs, subqueries, conditional logic, window functions), data manipulation, data migration, and building ETL scripts.
  • Technical Leadership: 48+ months as a Lead Developer on projects involving multiple developers or teams of >4 developers.

Compliance & Security Requirements

  • ID Requirements: Government-issued Photo ID (Driver’’s License / Non-Driver ID) for building access.
  • Clearance: DOH Confidentiality Agreement and Network Access approval required.
  • Mandatory Training: Completion of NYS GOER training (Security Awareness, Sexual Harassment Prevention, Workplace Violence Prevention) and agency-specific courses.
