Job description

VAE, Inc. is seeking an experienced Network Administrator to support a DISA program. This role is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and securing enterprise network infrastructure across Cisco, Juniper, and Dell platforms, and for managing the VMware Horizon components that hand off and secure active virtual desktop sessions. The successful candidate will apply methodical, root-cause troubleshooting to resolve complex issues spanning interdependent hardware and software systems., * Configure switches, load balancers, routers, and firewalls to support enterprise network operations.

  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, updates, and security hardening on Cisco, Juniper, and Dell network assets.
  • Apply methodical root-cause analysis to resolve complex issues across interdependent hardware and software systems.
  • Configure and manage VMware Horizon Connection Servers, Unified Access Gateways (UAG), and desktop pools.
  • Securely hand off and manage active virtual desktop user sessions at the network boundary.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures and monitor traffic for anomalies or intrusions.
  • Document network configurations, topology changes, and standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with systems and VDI administration teams to ensure reliable, secure end-to-end connectivity.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • DoD 8570 baseline certification (e.g., Security+ or equivalent).
  • Ability to work in Fort Meade, MD 5 days a week. No opportunities for telework.
  • Ability to configure switches, load balancers, routers, and firewalls.
  • Experience performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, updates, and implementing security measures on Cisco, Juniper, and Dell network assets.
  • Demonstrated methodical root-cause analysis when tracking down complex bugs across interdependent hardware and software systems.
  • Experience configuring VMware Horizon Connection Servers, Unified Access Gateways (UAG), and desktop pools to hand off and manage active user sessions securely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cisco and/or Juniper certification (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA).
  • Experience with network automation and scripting.
  • Experience in DoD or federal network environments.
