Security Engineer

Experteer Overview In this role, you lead security strategy and engineering standards across Meta’s pillar-wide security program, guiding high-impact risk reduction across distributed systems, access control, encryption, and intrusion detection. You collaborate with senior leadership to shape security direction, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional initiatives that protect billions of users. You will integrate AI-enabled workflows to improve threat detection and security operations, while upholding responsible AI practices. This is a high-visibility technical leadership position focused on scalable, concrete security outcomes. Compensation / Benefits * Define pillar-wide security strategy and engineering standards across multiple sub-pillars * Solve high-impact security problems spanning distributed systems, access control, encryption, and intrusion detection * Lead threat modeling and risk assessment for complex systems and systemic vulnerabilities * Architect and implement engineered controls, guardrails, and defense-in-depth mechanisms * Partner with senior leadership to set pillar goals, guide roadmaps, and drive cross-functional accountability * Identify tooling gaps and drive scalable, automated risk-reducing solutions * Mentor engineers and contribute to leadership hiring and security culture * Represent Meta’s security posture externally through thought leadership and published insights * Leverage AI-integrated workflows to improve threat detection and security analysis * Ensure decisions align with compliance, ethical standards, and responsible AI practices Tasks * 15+ years of security risk management in large-scale organizations * Experience driving cross-company security engineering initiatives across distributed systems, access control, encryption, and intrusion detection * System design, threat modeling, and risk assessment across complex environments * Experience building engineered security controls and guardrails emphasizing least privilege, defense in depth, and segmentation * Strong ability to communicate complex security risk and decisions in writing to technical and non-technical stakeholders including senior leadership Key requirements *
