Job description

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer/Full stack Developer to join our IPG Technology team in Ann Arbor, MI. This is an amazing opportunity to work on Foundation IP, including the web application and Spring-based REST API supporting an external-facing product for our customers. We have a strong skill set in Java, Spring Boot, Angular, SQL Server and Agile software development, and we would love to speak with you if you have hands-on full-stack experience building scalable enterprise applications., * Full-stack product development: Design and develop product features across Angular 17 front-end applications and Java/Spring Boot REST services.

  • Customer-facing application support: Develop and support Foundation IP, an external-facing product used by customers.

  • Feature delivery and maintenance: Work on a mix of new development, client-reported bugs, and support activities as needed.

  • Engineering best practices: Apply software development best practices, unit testing, object-oriented design, code reviews, secure coding guidelines, and OWASP Top 10 awareness.

  • Agile collaboration: Work in small scrum teams with two-week sprint cycles, partnering with QA, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and other engineering team members on planning, estimation, and delivery.

  • Technical ownership: Conduct scoped POCs, produce useful design documentation, communicate identified risks to technical leads, participate in RCA, and help define prevention strategies.

  • Team support: Provide technical help to junior team members and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.

About the Team

The IPG Technology team develops and supports Foundation IP, including the web application and Spring-based REST API. The role works most directly with the U.S. team and also partners with a larger India-based team. The team operates in an Agile environment with small scrum teams of 3 to 4 engineers and a two-week sprint cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.

  • At least 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience, including Java development.

  • 5+ years pf experience with Core Java, Spring Boot, Spring REST applications, JPA, Hibernate, and open-source libraries.

  • 5+ years of experience with SQL Server, including writing queries and working with relational databases.

  • 5+ years of experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern front-end development using Angular.

It would be great if you also had . . .

  • Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure or another cloud provider such as Azure or GCP.

  • Understanding of Docker containerization and Linux environments.

  • Exposure to cloud-based monitoring platforms.

  • Experience optimizing SQL queries and indexes for high-throughput applications.

  • Exposure to application profiling tools such as JMeter or similar tools.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Git, Maven, Jenkins, or other CI/CD tools.
