Job description

The Product Owner serves as the strategic link between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring technology solutions deliver meaningful business value across the Batteries Plus network. This role is responsible for defining product vision, prioritizing initiatives, and managing the product lifecycle for key retail and franchise systems, including back-office operations, inventory management, and vendor solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams, franchise partners, and technology leaders, the Product Owner drives innovation, operational efficiency, and business performance through thoughtful product strategy and execution.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and manage the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer needs, and organizational priorities.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for retail and franchise back-office systems, including inventory management, replenishment, order management, and store operations platforms.

  • Partner with store operations, supply chain teams, franchise owners, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities, solve operational challenges, and translate business needs into actionable product requirements.

  • Lead product initiatives from concept through implementation, including planning, prioritization, delivery, launch, and post-launch evaluation.

  • Make product prioritization decisions, balancing stakeholder requests, business value, technical feasibility, and resource constraints.

  • Drive enhancements that improve inventory accuracy, replenishment processes, operational efficiency, and franchise compliance.

  • Lead RFP processes and vendor evaluations for retail technology solutions, including requirements gathering, vendor selection, contract evaluation, and ongoing vendor relationship management.

  • Manage cross-functional project dependencies and support the successful delivery of product initiatives using Agile, hybrid, or traditional project management methodologies.

  • Develop and maintain project reporting, business cases, timelines, risks, and performance metrics for leadership and executive stakeholders.

  • Coordinate product launches and system enhancements by partnering with IT, Training, Marketing, Customer Service, Store Operations, and franchise stakeholders.

  • Conduct user research, field visits, and stakeholder interviews to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and leverage data-driven insights to improve business processes and product performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Information Technology, or a related field required.

  • 5-7 years of experience in product management, product ownership, project management, or a related business and technology role.

  • Experience managing enterprise software implementations, product roadmaps, and complex cross-functional initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience leading RFP processes, vendor evaluations, and technology selection projects.

  • Strong understanding of retail operations, inventory management systems, franchise operations, or related business processes preferred.

  • Experience working within a retail, franchise, or multi-unit environment strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to balance business strategy, user needs, and technical requirements to deliver successful outcomes.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience with project and product management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and reporting tools.

  • Familiarity with AI-powered productivity tools and an interest in emerging technologies.

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
